Lip and Tongue Tie Treatment for Infants and Children

Understanding Oral Ties

A tongue tie occurs when the band of tissue connecting the tongue to the floor of the mouth is too short or restrictive, limiting the tongue’s range of motion. A lip tie occurs when the tissue connecting the upper lip to the gum is similarly restrictive.
Both conditions exist on a spectrum. Not every tie requires treatment, and not every child with a tie will experience meaningful symptoms. At Treetop, our goal is to help you understand whether a tie is affecting your child’s function so you can make an informed decision for your family.

Signs of a Lip or Tongue Tie

If you have noticed any of these signs, a consultation is a good first step for an honest assessment.

We take time to understand your child, not just diagnose.

  • Listen first

We start by hearing your concerns. Tell us about your child’s feeding, sleep, and health history.

  • Functional assessment

We gently evaluate how your child’s tongue functions, not just how it looks.

  • Collaborative Care

We discuss options together so you feel informed and supported.

Gentle Laser Treatment. When treatment is recommended, we use advanced laser technology designed for comfort and precision.

  • Precision and Safety

Targeted treatment with minimal impact on surrounding tissue and controlled bleeding during the procedure.

  • Comfort for Your Child

Reduced discomfort during and after treatment, with no sutures needed in most cases.

  • Faster Recovery

Most children return to normal feeding and activity quickly.

What to Expect at Your Visit

  • Consultation First

We evaluate your child and answer every question. No treatment is performed unless it is clinically appropriate and you feel informed and comfortable moving forward.

  • The Procedure

For infants, the procedure is brief. The area is numbed, and the laser treatment takes just a few minutes. Many infants are able to feed immediately afterward.

  • Aftercare and Stretching

We will teach you gentle stretching exercises to perform at home to prevent reattachment. We will make sure you feel confident before you leave.
