Lip and Tongue Tie Treatment for Infants and Children
Understanding Oral Ties
A tongue tie occurs when the band of tissue connecting the tongue to the floor of the mouth is too short or restrictive, limiting the tongue’s range of motion. A lip tie occurs when the tissue connecting the upper lip to the gum is similarly restrictive.
Both conditions exist on a spectrum. Not every tie requires treatment, and not every child with a tie will experience meaningful symptoms. At Treetop, our goal is to help you understand whether a tie is affecting your child’s function so you can make an informed decision for your family.

What to Expect at Your Visit
-
Consultation First
We evaluate your child and answer every question. No treatment is performed unless it is clinically appropriate and you feel informed and comfortable moving forward.
-
The Procedure
For infants, the procedure is brief. The area is numbed, and the laser treatment takes just a few minutes. Many infants are able to feed immediately afterward.
-
Aftercare and Stretching
We will teach you gentle stretching exercises to perform at home to prevent reattachment. We will make sure you feel confident before you leave.
