Coreluv International

“There are over 200,000,000 orphans and the sad truth is that most will never be adopted.”

In a few short weeks my wife, Terry Lind, and I will be loading up our suitcases and a couple hundred toothbrushes and heading to Gonaives, Haiti.  Gonaives is a coastal city lying on the Gulf of Gonavies (west Haiti).  We are traveling with an organization called Coreluv.  Coreluv is a Christ-centered organization focused on orphan care within Gonaives.  Specifically, Coreluv partners with a local Haitian pastor to provide 6 basic needs to the children of their orphanage in Gonaives:

  1. Food
  2. Clean Water
  3. Healthcare
  4. Education
  5. Job Skills
  6. A Loving Environment

Coreluv is in the process of raising funds and building a new orphanage home that will expand the 30 person capacity facility to house up to 80 orphans in a mountain village called Myan.

I was first introduced to Coreluv through my wife.  We were compelled by the simplicity of the mission: Love Orphans.  That’s it.  No special requirements or skills needed.  All can serve.

I’ve been fortunate to have been trained in a fairly unique skill, dentistry.  I’ll be able to provide dental care to the children and many adult helpers in Gonaives and Port au Prince.  Ever wonder how 3rd world dentistry is accomplished?  I’ll post pictures after the trip.  But let’s just say OSHA, HIPPA and the State Dental Board do not exist in Haiti.  With the advancements in science and modern materials of dentistry, the care provided will not be too different than what’ s provided in the states…….no iPads on the wall or flatscreens on the ceilings though.

I’ve had the opportunity to serve in Mexico and Guatemala.  Both times I thought I would be providing a service that might impact lives, and it has always turned out that I’m the one who comes home changed.  Funny how in the midst of poverty and ruin, God can teach us about the true riches of the world.

Want to know more about Coreluv?  Check it out here.

Here’s a challenge:  Look at the faces of the orphans and not be stirred.  Stirred to do something.  You can do something.  You don’t have to be a dentist or a physician and you don’t have to commit your life to serving in the safaris of Africa.  There are needs all around us.  Find them and do something.

Below is a list of needs that the Coreluv team in Haiti has provided us. Treetop and Dr. Brandon will be collecting these items through Thursday, July 25th to take to Haiti. Please give the office a call or send an email if you would like to donate any of the items listed. If you would like to donate financially, visit Coreluv’s online giving page here – https://giving.coreluv.org/client/

Thank you for considering this opportunity to bless some of God’s dearly loved children.
